Belgian emergency centres receive 7,555 calls per day

The call centres of the Belgian emergency hotline numbers 112 and 100 last year received a total of 2,757,722 calls, or an average of 7,555 per day, reports De Morgen based on figures from the federal interior ministry.

Interior minister Jan Jambon (pictured) points out that 20 to 25% of the calls are from pranksters. Jambon said that during a visit to a school in Ganshoren where he presented a promotional video for the emergency number 112.
