Belgian Catholic Church sees convert numbers continue to rise

21:12 04/04/2017

According to Tertio, a Catholic weekly newspaper in Belgium, the number of adult men and women to be baptised in Belgium every year during the Easter Vigil in the Catholic Church continues to rise.

Tertio gathered information from Catholic churches across the country and found that at least 229 adults are to be baptised during the next Easter service on 15 April. The newly baptised individuals typically go on to be confirmed right away and receive communion for the first time.

The number of people in Belgium to become Catholic in the Easter period has risen steadily over the years, from about 150 people in 2013, to 222 last year.

In addition, at least 131 adults who were previously baptised will be confirmed this year around Easter, compared to 102 people last year.
