BBC World Service radio returns to Belgium

16:13 20/10/2015

The BBC World Service will resume radio broadcasts in Belgium in November, four years after listeners stopped receiving the station.

The English-language service will be available on DAB+ digital radio - a new platform that launched in Belgium earlier this year.

"The BBC is one of the most respected broadcasters in the world," says the launch announcement by transmissions company Norkring.

"The BBC World Service will be available at home, at work or in the car for free and in perfect HD digital quality."

Listeners used to receive the service on medium-wave in Belgium, northern France, the Netherlands and Germany - but the frequency was switched off as a cost-saving measure in 2011.

Digital radio receivers are sold on Amazon and in electrical stores such as Mediamarkt and Vanden Borre.
