Baby born on bus gets free travel until 18

16:09 05/09/2017

A baby born on a bus in Liège has been given free travel until the age of 18, announces TEC Liège-Verviers public transport company.

It was early on Saturday morning when the driver of the No 18 bus was informed by passengers that a woman on the bus was in labour. He parked the bus on Place du Congrès in the city’s Outremeuse area, while waiting for the emergency services to arrive. But the baby’s head was already crowning as the ambulance arrived on the scene, driver Giuseppe Fanara told RTL Belgium. The paramedics took over and following the birth, mother and baby were driven to CHR de la Citadelle hospital. Both are reported to be doing well.

As well as the birthday present to the newborn, the TEC service has given the mother a free bus pass for a year.
