Armed men rob Brussels jeweller

11:37 09/12/2013
Two masked men armed with clubs burst into the shop of jewellery designers Fabrilissime in the Rue de la Pépinière last Thursday around 17.00. The owner took refuge in a back room while the men smashed display cases and escaped on a motorcycle with the contents. The value of the stolen goods has been estimated at around €200,000, the Brussels prosecutor’s office said.

Police said they were investigating, but so far they have no leads other than blood stains left behind by one of the men when he apparently injured himself on broken glass. No-one in the shop was injured. The Rue de la Pépinière is situated close to the rear of the royal palace in Brussels, where there is a regular police presence. However the attack was over and the robbers gone before police could arrive at the scene.
