Izy is the "bargain basement" operation by Thalys, slower, limited number of departures, more difficult to book, but cheaper and perfectly legitimate.

I looked at IZY for a trip to Paris but the fact that it was slower meant that I could not make a planned onward connection from Paris.
I booked on a standard, full-fare Thalys.
I wondered about the advertised 'slower' element as there is no facility for a standard Thalys to pass a slower IZY en route.
The reality was that my standard, full-fare Thalys was coupled behind a slower IZY!
That said, there are substantial extra charges if you want to take anything larger than a very small suitcase on IZY.
