Announcing pregnancy at work

Question

Is there a LEGAL (not just accepted polite, un-official policy) requirement of WHEN I must announce my pregnancy?

I've been waiting for a raise announcement for months, when it's been promised since October- and I don't trust my consultancy to be fair if I were to announce the pregnancy before they announce what percentage of the 10% increase my client has raised the rate (for MY benefit, based on performance).

But now, I'm 5 months along and showing! It's been frustrating, to say the least, but the consultancy doesn't ever 'see' me. Now they promised (since Jan) that once Evals are finished- by end of March- they will let me know- and retroactively pay since Jan. any difference owed to me.

What should I do here?! pffttt....

If you are working, you need to tell your employer no later than eight weeks before the due date. Mothers can take up to 15 weeks maternity leave, receiving benefits equivalent to 80 percent of your salary for the first 30 days and 75 percent for the remainder (subject to a maximum). Fathers can take 10 days paternity leave, seven of which are paid at 82 percent of the salary (subject to a maximum) within the first four months of the birth.
Mothers can also opt to take eight months part-time leave, meaning they take on part-time hours at their place of work for the eight month period.

Tell your employer as soon as you can.

Belgian law protects pregnant workers, and if you are made redundant while pregnant (and this does happen as our family know from experience), you will get a far higher compensation package if you have officially informed them.

If the task you do may have an impact on your child, you must declare asap and could possibly be either assked to perform other task or be sent home during the pregnancy. (nurse working in high infection zone,...)

Otherwise see above.
