American film director Tim Burton to film in Belgium

A Hollywood film crew led by acclaimed film director Tim Burton are due to start filming next month in Brasschaat, north of Antwerp, confirmed film producer 20th Century Fox.

Burton, creator of imaginative film classics like Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow and Big Fish, among others, was searching for a suitable setting to shoot his latest film project, based on the children's book Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. The story, written by the American author Ransom Riggs, is set in a spooky orphanage.

Burton and his team eventually settled on Torenhof castle in Brasschaat, a late 19th-century castle in eclectic style. The shoot is scheduled to start in July and will take approximately two weeks. While the film features famous actors such as Eva Green and Samuel L. Jackson, it is not known whether all of the stars will come to Belgium.

Press and public will be kept far from the shoot, it appears, as the castle has already been cordoned off. Burton’s new film is set for release in early 2016.
