AB InBev to invest €20 million in Leuven

12:08 21/11/2014

Belgian-American brewer giant AB InBev will invest €20 million to expand the capacity of its brewery in Leuven. "Investing in Leuven will create new jobs,” CEO Carlos Brito announced in an interview with Belgian television news programme Terzake on Canvas.

"More than half of the beer brewed in Leuven is for export,” he said. “And export is growing very fast, because the sale of Leffe, Hoegaarden and Stella Artois is globally on the rise.”

With the expansion, the Leuven brewery will be able to export an additional 800,000 hectoliters of beer, bringing the brewery’s capacity up to total volume of around 7 million hectoliters.

“The capacity increase inevitably comes with job creation”, assured Brito in the interview. “This will include 21 full-time jobs in the packaging department alone.”
