60,000 sing for the climate

12:04 24/09/2012

More than 60,000 people across Belgium took part this weekend in Sing For The Climate, a mass singalong aimed at raising awareness about global warming. Participants sang along to Do It Now, a song based on the Italian classic Bella Ciao and recorded by 60 Flemish artists. Director Nic Balthazar, who will put together a clip comprising footage from all local singalongs before November’s climate summit in Qatar, was ecstatic about the “positive vibe” generated by the event. “One would have been happy with less,” he said. “This was pretty enormous and unexpected.” The organisers had expected 24,000 participants and were surprised by the success of the operation.
