600 people march to close down all slaughterhouses in Brussels

14:21 12/06/2017

About 600 people on Sunday participated in a march to demand the closure of all Brussels slaughterhouses, writes news website 7sur7. The participants marched from Brussels Central Station to the Bourse, with banners and chants calling for the government to put a stop to animal cruelty in the form of slaughter, breeding, fishing and hunting. It is the third time the event was organised in Brussels, and the sixth edition worldwide. The march is an initiative of animal rights organisation Bite Back.

The demonstrators, dressed in red, held a mock 'die-in' while lying on the ground in front of the Bourse to Chopin's “Funeral March” and the sound of animals being slaughtered.

"Meat production means killing animals, but the consumer no longer sees the link between the meat he consumes and the animals killed,” say the organisers. “The latter are sensitive beings and their killing in slaughterhouses causes them an enormous amount of suffering.”

Well not everyone has the luxury of buying a cow and butchering it in their back garden.
Just because you don't hear carrots screaming it doesn't mean that they enjoy being boiled alive.
