42,000 gas cookers recalled over safety concerns

11:06 23/02/2017

Home appliance manufacturers Bosch and Siemens have recalled 42,000 gas stoves in Belgium because of a potential risk of an explosion.

The recall applies to products sold between 2006 and 2011 and owners are being urged to check the manufacture date of their cooker.

The gas connection of some of the affected devices could be damaged, which could lead to gas leakage and therefore a risk of explosion, BSH Home Appliances Belgium said in a statement.

A website has been set up to check whether your device is affected by the recall or you can contact the free helpline on 0800 97 773. The owners of the devices concerned are advised to immediately shut off the gas supply and contact customer service.

Affected customers will be offered a free replacement and fitting by a registered technician.
