20 Brussels events in 2020: #9. Keith Haring

01:01 01/01/2019

For extended periods during the last three years of his life, American artist Keith Haring lived in Belgium, saying that he quickly felt at home here. One of his local works is the mural painting he did in the cafeteria of MHKA in Antwerp.

So it is fitting that Bozar, in collaboration with Tate Liverpool and Museum Folkwang, is presenting a major retrospective of his work. His art, especially the work done in public spaces, is art with a message, activist art, but its colorful, whimsical forms have made it an enduring hit with the public and is seen on products such as mugs and T-shirts.

The show exhibits drawings, paintings, videos, collages and posters as well as biographical material about him that takes us on a trip through the New York City of the 1980s.

Until 19 April, Bozar
