The Bulletin: Who we are

What started in 1962 as an eight-page magazine created in a basement has grown into one of the best-known English-language publications in Continental Europe.

Monique Ackroyd published the very first edition of The Bulletin in September 1962, telling readers: "From now on, non-Belgian, English-speaking residents have a voice of their own. That voice: The Bulletin. YOUR weekly". That audience has since multiplied to more than 40.000 readers in the capital of Europe.

At the turn of 2010, The Bulletin underwent a radical change, introducing Brussels Unlimited, a weekly listings magazine highlighting the best of arts, entertainment, TV and film. The Bulletin now becomes a monthly magazine, giving it the freedom to explore local and global stories in greater depth. (Watch this video for more on this change.)

The Bulletin also publishes the biannual Newcomer magazine for expats new to Belgium, providing information on housing, education, banking and any other questions confronting newcomers.  (For more history of The Bulletin, read our entry on wikipedia.)
